One of the first things I tell my clients when they start working on planning their own events, is to focus on their ideal audience. They should have a solid grasp of who they want in their audience. Who exactly are they planning this event for?
Why is it so important to have your ideal attendee in your audience? Why can’t you just get some people in the room and deliver your content? After all, your services can help lots of people, not just those so-called ideal clients. There are three reasons for that.
Your ideal client is someone you love to work with.
This may be the most obvious, but it is not the most important. Let’s face it, if you have had a few clients or worked with more than one person before, you know that it is just more fun to work with some people than others. You understand each other better, you communicate better together; you just get along better. There is something in the other person that brings out the best in you.
And then, there are the other clients. The people that are on your schedule and you think, “Oh no, I have an appointment with them today.” It makes it hard to get out of bed in the morning when you are looking at a full slate of clients that you don’t really enjoy working with.
It makes your marketing and content more powerful
The second reason you want to focus on your ideal client is that it is much easier to market to one person than to market to all kinds of different people, who each have their own values and different sets of problems. It is hard to connect with separate groups at the same time. Each group looks for something different, and you cannot be all things to all people.
However, when you focus on your ideal client and you know what it is that keeps them up at night; you can craft your message so that you are talking right to them. You enter the conversation that is already going on in their head. When you know who your ideal client is, you know their values, their likes, their dislikes. And most importantly, you know what keeps them up at night. This way you can not only craft your marketing message that makes them want to come to your workshops, you can also create the content that they need and want the most.
The final reason that you want to have your workshop rooms filled with your ideal audience is the magic that happens when you deliver your solution to your ideal audience. That audience wants to hear from you, because they love what you teach. It resonates with them. When you have an audience like that, something special happens.
You convert your audience into raving fans. And raving fans are not just clients that will purchase your information products and your services packages. Although they will. They will gladly invest in your high end services, like your Platinum Mastermind group or your yearlong coaching or service package.
But they will do so much more than that. They become champions. They will talk about you to their friends, their business partners and recommend you. You will receive referrals from them, not only for your next workshops and seminars, but also for your information products and other packages you offer.
That is what will take your business to the next level. If you want to learn more strategies to fill your events effectively and authentically with your ideal audience, check out the Butts In Seats Virtual Boot Camp.
