Workshop Hosts: Don’t Leave Money On The Table

5 Flares 5 Flares ×

Show me the moneyYou leave money on the table every time you host a workshop.

Unfortunately, that is what most workshop hosts are guilty off.

Hosting an event is hard work. There are so many details and all the marketing that you have to do to fill your workshop room.  However, the payoff is tremendous, IF you do it right.

Are you making 10K or more in just one day?

If you have hosted workshops that weren’t that successful, it is likely that you are leaving massive amounts of money on the table.  If you spend all that time and effort, it is OK to say: “Show me the money!”

Here are some of the reasons you are leaving money on the table:

Event Strategy

You are missing a crucial piece of your event strategy.  Are you charging too much or too little? Are you targeting the people who actually need and can afford your services?

I consulted with a company recently who had attendees in the room of their workshops that were not their ideal clients.  The result was that their workshops, which were designed to get them high level clients, had a Return on Investment of absolutely ZERO.  They were leaving huge chunks of money on the table.

Lack Of Back End Offer

Back end offer

Do you have a back end offer?

Do you have a back end offer?  If you host a workshop, you need to have a back end offer.  If not you are doing your attendees and yourself a huge disservice.  Your attendees come to your events to learn, to solve a problem.  There is no way they can get everything from you in just one sitting.  (If they can, you may be in the wrong business.)

You need to tell them what the next step is.  Your attendees may not know there IS a next step for them.  They may not know they need something else.  They may not know that you offer that next step.  It is up to you to tell them and to offer it to them.  If you don’t they may look for it with your competitor.

Back End Offer Mistakes

If you do have a back end offer, congratulations.  But do you know it is the right back end offer?  You may be offering something that isn’t congruent with your workshop.

Or you may be offering extra step that is not necessary.  For instance, if you spend an entire day teaching and giving great content, only to ask for a discovery session, you are missing the boat.  What else are they going to discover?  They just spend hours discovering you!

Do you know when and how to present your offer?  Presenting your offer is an art and you need to know not only the timing of it, you need to know how to present it as well.  You can sink your back end sales in a hurry if you do not set up your offer the right way.
