Ultimate Blog Challenge: Time To Evaluate

0 Flares 0 Flares ×

On August 1st, I posted that I had started the Ultimate Blog Challenge and that I would be writing on my blog 31 times during the month of August.  We are half way there, so I thought I would check in and evaluate the progress I have made with the goals I had set for myself.

Here are the goals that I posted on my blog at the beginning of my challenge:

  • Post 31 times in August (preferable once a day)
  • Double the traffic to this website
  • Increase my community of entrepreneurs who want to grow their business with workshops. (So be sure to download your audio in the right hand column!)
  • Repurpose many of the posts into articles for the different article directories.
  • Read and comment on many of the other blog challenge participants.
  • Connect and make friends with the other participants.

And here is my progress report:

  • Post 31 times.  I have posted every day in the first 16 days of the challenge, so far so good.
  • Double my traffic. When I took a look at my stats yesterday, I was overjoyed to see that I already have more visitors to my site in the first 2 weeks of August that I had the entire month of July!  This blog challenge is working!
  • Increase my community.  Here the results are a little disappointing.  While I have more people following and subscribing to the blog, not many people have actually downloaded my audio “The 5 Secrets To Turning Your Workshop Into An Explosion of Clients And Profits” or “The 3 Step Blueprint To Your Own Live Event”. I may have to make the sign up form in the side bar more noticeable or perhaps the people who are coming to my blog are not my ideal client. What do you think? (Please share your suggestions for me.)
  • Repurpose many of the articles for article directories. I am behind on that, i really need t start submitting them.
  • Read and comment on the other challenge participants.  I have read some fabulous blog posts by the participants and I have left comments as well.  My main way of finding the blogs is through the #blogboost hashtag on Twitter.  I know I probably miss out on some excellent posts, but I am also finding some great ones.
  • Connect and make friends.  Through making comments on each others blogs I have met some wonderful new people and I am conversing with more people on Twitter, too.  I am enjoying the interactions and seeing the progress everyone is making.

What are your experiences with the Ultimate Blog Challenge? How are your goals coming along? Please share in the comments.

Congrats on keeping up with the challenge! I’m really enjoying so far, I don’t know whether I will be saying that so much in the last week though 🙂 About your free audio, I didn’t notice it until I read about it in the above post, so maybe making it stand out more, with bolder colors might do the trick. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback Julia. I am going to try tinkering with the offer to see if I can make it more obvious. Good luck with the challenge. We can make it all the way to the end!

  2. I am pretty impressed with myself and the challenge right now. I think I’m up to 20 or 21 posts already. The more I am writing, the more I seem to want to write.

I checked my stats yesterday after seeing your tweet and my traffic is already up 26% over last month. I can’t wait to see what happens the next two weeks.

I also need to get busy with repurposing my posts…

I’m not worrying too much about the downloads. Ultimate Blog Challenge includes so many different blogs, everything isn’t going to be relevant to everyone.

The new community of bloggers I have been introduced to has been amazing. It is definitely turning out to be a main perk of the challenge.

I think you are doing great! It has been a pleasure getting to know your blog over the last two weeks. Keep up the good work.

Way to go Angie! It’s been a pleasure reading your posts and comments. In the beginning I had a few blog posts scheduled ahead of time, but I find I am starting to struggle a bit more with the content. The participants are sharing some great stuff and that does lead to more ideas, though.

  3. Very pleased with everything, too. Having a bit of difficulty getting a new post out every day. I have lots of things going on this month. Featured Internet Marketer of the Week series, Blog challenge, trying to get my newest info product finished and set up a launch and just started http://thehappypreneur.com/NAMS4Kids charity giveaway too! Much too busy of a month!

Wow, you do have a lot going on. Try to repurpose as much as you can and don’t forget those 10 minute blog post ideas Michele Scism shared. I am going to keep those for the weekends or when I just can’t think of anything to write. Good luck with the http://thehappypreneur.com/NAMS4Kids give away. It is a very good cause. Hmmm. That gives me a blog post idea…
