Turn Your Workshop Into A Hard Topic

Hope you tuned in for yet another great call on the Winning Workshop Secrets: How To Grow Your Business with Live Events teleseminar training series.  This time it was with Adam Urbanski.  Adam proved yet again why he is such a sought after mentor, coach and speaker, dishing out gold.

Adam hosts several intensive 6-figure workshops per year, so he knows what he is talking about when he talks about information products and how they enhance your offerings, both as a product to sell at your workshops or as a by-product from your workshops.

Here are some of my take aways:

Coaching programs, teleseminars and workshops are all information products, but they can be delivered on demand in the form of ebooks, pdf reports, printed materials, mp3 downloads or CDs and video and DVDs.

Two classifications of topics for your info products:

  • Hard Topics (make or save money)
  • Soft Topics (everything else)

Hard topics command a higher price point, so try to turn your soft topic into a hard topic.

One of the best things to sell at your workshop: Presell a product or program that you deliver in the future.  It doesn’t have to be ready.

Some don’ts:

  • Create a product that no one wants to buy. Do your research first.
  • Create the product regardless of profitability. Crunch the numbers first.
  • Take forever to produce it
  • Make the product to broad, too big or too overwhelming. Go an inch wide, but a mile deep.

I echo his sentiment and encourage you to take action.  If you have gotten only one idea from this call, or from the calls with Michele PW and Felicia Slattery, don’t sit on it.  Put it into action and take your brilliance to the masses (or at least a live audience).
