All workshop and seminar hosts have this big fear of failure. It is universal and even the big gurus still have this same fear.
“What if nobody signs up for my event?“
Getting butts in the seats is a struggle for most people. And it is more than a struggle; it becomes a fear of failure. What if I only have 10 attendees? The people that are there will know that I couldn’t fill a room…
Thoughts of public humiliation are enough for some to abandon any plans of hosting workshops and seminars. But you are missing out on a huge opportunity to grow your business. Front end workshops serve to generate leads while larger event move your clients into higher level offerings. Not only that, your audience needs what you teach. And if you give up on your workshops and seminars you leave them hanging.
You CAN fill your workshops and seminars. It just takes a different approach.
Filling a seminar room is different from selling a product, just because you are asking for so much more than just a ticket purchase. Your attendees have to take time away from their business or family, or both. They have to incur travel time and expenses. Even if it is a local workshop, it is a hassle to drive across town and brave the traffic.
That is why you have to communicate clearly why your attendees should come to your event. What are the benefits for them? How would their life improve if they came to your workshop? What are they going to learn that they can implement immediately?
You also have to make them think of the opposite. What would they miss out on if they didn’t come to your seminar? What is the cost to them to NOT move their business or their life forward? If they stay stuck in the status quo, will they miss out on thousands of dollars of new income? How much time and money will they lose from making mistakes you could help them avoid?
When you make it clear that it is worth it to leave the office and make the trek to your seminar, your seminar room will fill up. And your fear of failure will turn into the euphoria of success.
