The First Step In Planning A Successful Workshop

2 Flares 2 Flares ×

If you want to make next year better than this year, the time to start planning is now.  Many of the most successful people plan their years many months out.  However, we as solopreneurs may have our first quarter filled in, but the key to success is to have a plan in place for the whole year.  Fortunately, we can be more flexible than big bureaucratic companies and can adjust our strategies as we go along.

If you haven’t planned out your 2011 yet, or if you have decided that you are going to lead your own workshop or seminar in the next year, you also need to start planning and filling in the details for that now.  The longer you wait with really formulating your plans, the less likely it is that it will

  1. happen and
  2. be successful.

That is why I am creating a series of blog posts that will help you put together your Winning Workshop for the new year.  Events can mean a boost in visibility for you and your business, an influx of new clients and a big pay day. Follow my five steps and get on the road to making 2011 your best year ever.

Here is the first step:

Step 1 – Pick a Date

Pick a date for your workshop

Pick a date for your workshop

Sounds easy, doesn’t it? Yet sometimes this is the hardest step. Go ahead, take out your calendar and see what is going on.   I’ll wait. You have your calendar in front of you? Now pick a date and write in your event.

Be careful not to pick your date during holidays and be mindful of other events that may be going on during the time of year, such as school vacations.  When are the big events happening in your industry?  Avoid those dates as well.

With this simple step you have created a deadline for yourself.  All of a sudden it is real.  Most people that have every intention of hosting their own event never do.  Just because they don’t make a decision and complete this first, simple step.  Mark your date on your calendar in BIG, BOLD letters.   This will be a date that will make a big difference in your life.

Stay tuned for the next step in planning your event tomorrow…
