When it comes to marketing or selling anything, including marketing seminars and filling workshops, relationships are important. It is called relationship marketing. You establish a relationship with your prospects before they become clients. And that makes sense; since people only buy from people they know like and trust.
Are You Missing a Marketing Opportunity?
However, if you focus only on the relationship with your prospects, you may overlook a huge marketing opportunity. There are more relationships to focus on that can bring you more attendees for your events.
Have you ever bought a book, an educational program or attended an event on the recommendation of someone else? Of course you have. When you trust the opinion of a friend, a mentor or a business associate, you are more likely to buy something they recommend. If you stumble upon it yourself, you are always questioning, “I wonder if this is any good?”
When someone you trust endorses a program, it eliminates that question. You can feel confident to invest in it and register for it.
Tap Into the Recommendation Age
Who do you know that has a similar audience as you? Establish a relationship with them. Earn their trust so that they can recommend your workshop to their audience. You can create a win/win connection with them, where they will promote and recommend your event to their audience. In return, you pay them a commission for each ticket they sell.
With this arrangement, you reach potential attendees that may not hear about your event through your other promotions. Even if they do, now you have someone they know, like and trust endorsing your workshop. That makes it more likely for them to attend your event.
The other business owner makes a nice commission for their recommendation. And all they have to do is send an email or 2 and perhaps write a blog post. If you provide that for them, you control more of your message. It also makes it easier for them, so that it is more likely that they will send it out or put up the blog post.
When you pay some attention to creating these affiliate relationship, you can grow your event very fast. David Perdew used this strategy to grow his NAMS Workshop from 60 attendees to over 350 rabid fans.
