Is The Money Really In The List?

Have you ever heard “The money is in the list”?  It refers to how as long as you have a huge list of subscribers, you can make a lot of money.  Internet marketers especially always talk about making money at the push of a button.  And wouldn’t it be wonderful if that was all that it takes?

Workshops give you a better relationship with your listThe truth is quite different.  Sure, having a list is vital to your business, no matter what that business is.  And the more subscribers you have, the more money you can potentially make.  But it overlooks one small detail.  OK, actually it is not that small.

The big variable is the relationship you have with your list.  There is a big difference between having a list where the names are just dollars and a list where you actually know many of the people on your list.  The second list is much more profitable, because you have taken the time to get to know your subscribers.

One way to get a list of the second variety is to host introductory workshops.  Introductory workshops are short, inexpensive events where you teach on your topic of expertise.  Since your attendees bought a ticket to your workshop, they are now on your list. But while you are teaching your workshop, you turn your subscribers from just names, to names, faces and clients.

You are creating a relationship with your attendees.  You are gaining tremendous credibility while you are teaching and by answering questions and responding to feedback you increase your know, like and trust factor.

That know, like and trust factor is key in turning your attendees into clients and to creating a profitable list.  When you have a relationship with your list, your list will truly be an important business asset, where the money is not just in the list, but also in the great relationship you have with your subscribers.

    The relationship you have with people is the key. People want to get to know you before they trust you, then trust you before they buy from you. If you develop a good relationship with them, they may want to stick around and stay with you. My business partner has been holding live webinars and workshops, but I haven’t ventured into it yet. I like that doing so can increase credibility and getting feedback. The Telesummit soungs great.
