Winning Workshops have content that “rocks”, and one way to do that is by providing content that is “New, Now, Next”. Your audience loves to get new nuggets. Your attendees clamor for new information and strategies that they can implement right now. If your audience is sophisticated and attends a lot of seminars and workshops it is even more important that you give them new insights, rather than information that has been rehashed and repurposed over and over. Sometimes all it takes is new examples or new stories.
This is also one of the reasons that workshops and events about social media are so popular. Social media is relatively new and it changes fast. If you can keep up with the latest trends and incorporate them in your teachings, your audience will love you.
Your customers also want to go home with action steps they can implement right now. Your audience is fired up, motivated and their heads are swimming with new ideas. Sometimes it is hard to sort through all that to determine what their next step should be.
Have you ever attended a workshop or seminar where you just had so many good ideas, but you came home and Monday morning it was business as usual? What if you gave your audience a challenge and asked them to report back in to you the following day? Your audience would go home to work on the challenge. When they report back, you have the opportunity to reinforce the relationship you initiated at the workshop, get to know your customers more and create more raving fans.
Also give your audience the tools they can continue to use next week, next month and next year. Especially if you use your workshop or seminar to sell your services on the backend, your event should be content-heavy. If you are light on content and heavy on the sales pitch, you will lose your audience. People do business with people they know, like and trust. To get there fast, you have to give them valuable content that makes them glad they invested their time and money with you.
