’tis the holiday season…
And that means lots of holiday parties. Sometimes there are just too many to attend. And you have to choose between them. Sounds a lot like what your audience has to do when they decide which workshop to attend, doesn’t it?
Just you have certain criteria for which party to attend, your attendees have their own criteria for which workshop to attend. They are pretty similar…
Let’s see how you can increase your workshop attendance by examining your holiday party criteria.
This is the most important one. After all, you will always choose to attend your best friend’s party over a casual acquaintance’s.
Your audience feels the same way. They will attend your workshop over someone else’s if they know you better. That means that someone who is on your list and follows you on social media is much more likely to come to your event than someone who isn’t.
Take Away: Build your list and social media following. A bigger and responsive list will vastly improve your workshop attendance.
Action Step: Need a great way to build your list? Participate in a list building event like the Self Improvement Gifts Event. This personal development giveaway is great for workshop hosts who teach any aspect of self improvement, like fitness, nutrition, financial, leadership, business development, etc. Pretty much anyone who hosts their own workshops fits into one of these categories.
Who else is coming to the party? You’re more likely to go to a party if you already know some of the people that are going too. It is more fun to hang out with friends. And if you know that special person who you’ve wanted to meet is going to be there, that pretty much seals the deal.
For your workshop, networking is an important part of the event. Your attendees don’t just come for the content, they come to meet your other attendees. They are more likely to attend if they know their social media contacts will be there too.
Take Away: Build networking into your event to give your attendees plenty of time to meet their fellow attendees. It is even better when they can start their networking on social media before they even get to the event, through Facebook or Twitter.
Action Step: Encourage your attendees to let their friends and followers know that they are attending your event. You can even give them an incentive, like a report, video or checklist for sharing your event on social media. LeadPages makes it super easy to build landing pages that encourage this and it is a powerful tool to add to your list building arsenal.
Food and Beverage
What is the host serving at the party? You are more likely to attend if you like what is being served. If you do not drink alcohol, you are less likely to attend a party where it is likely to turn into a boozefest. The opposite is true as well. If you enjoy a cocktail or two (or more) and you think that enhances the holiday experience, you are less likely to attend a teetotalers party.
For your workshop, what you serve up matters as well. Your audience is looking for a solution to their problem and you have to serve that up to them in the form of great content for them to attend your event.
Take Away: Teach the solution that your audience is looking for. It is just about the only thing that your attendees are willing to whip their wallet out and buy your event ticket for.
Action Step: Make sure you know your audience and what they are looking for. It is one of the essential keys for filling your workshop or seminar. If you don’t have this down, your events will stay empty no matter how much you promote. Always keep your guests (audience) in mind. Offer what they want and they will show up for your events. Enjoy your parties this holiday season and make sure that your all your workshops in 2016 are full and lucrative.
