What a blast! I headed down to South Florida and my alma mater the University of Miami this weekend. I was introduced at the University of Miami Homecoming game as a part of the class of 2011 University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame. (That was the news I referred to a few weeks ago, but now the cat is finally out of the bag.) Pretty exciting stuff! Check out the link to the Hall Of Fame press release for the full bios and pictures of of all the inductees. You’ll get a kick out of seeing me as a young and naive 19 year old.
We also took a trip down memory lane at the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame to see where my picture will hang. Now I have to dig through my memorabilia to donate 2 pieces that will be on display. On Saturday, we attended the University of Miami game against Maryland with some good friends, one of which ia actually a Maryland grad. We don’t hold that against her though.
Here I am with my fellow Hurricane Hall Of Fame inductees Dan Morgan (Superbowl winner with the New Orleans Saints), diver Tyce Routson and Washington Redskin Santana Moss. Pretty good company, don’t you think?
Missing from this picture are Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne, baseball’s Bobby Hill, tennis coach Ian Duvenhage, and track athlete Yolanda McCray. I am looking forward to this spring when we will have our Induction Ceremony. That should be a lot of fun, and definitely a great honor.
