Disappointing Workshop Registrations?

disappointing workshop registationsIn the last post you learned what to do when you have no workshop registrations at all.   But what should you do when you have some registrations, but they are not even close to what you expected?

In fact, perhaps you were planning on having 100 people in the room and you only have 15 signed up.  Or maybe you were expecting 25-35 and you have 8.  What do you do then?

First, suck it up, buttercup!  While this may look and feel bad, it is not the end of the world.  However, it is time to shift it into high gear.

Double or Triple Your Efforts

Whatever you were doing to get butts in seats, do more of it.  Step it up a notch, or two or three.  Nothing is now more important than getting the word out.  Contact groups that have your ideal audience, go to networking meetings and work the phones.  Send out that last email or two and focus on local participants.

Downsize

Contact your venue and get a smaller room.  There is nothing worse than having a small group in a large room.  Your audience’s energy will be way down and you need it to be up.  If your venue doesn’t have a smaller room, ask for dividers or plants to make the room look smaller.  If you were planning on having just chairs in the room, add tables.  Make sure that the venue does NOT set the room for your original amount of attendees.

Make It Stick

Make sure that the people that did register show up.  Use stick strategies that remind your attendees why they registered and keep them excited about the event.

Dazzle Your Audience

Realize that even small workshops can be VERY successful and lucrative.  Your job is to give the audience you do have your all.  Give them what they came for and then some.  Make an offer they can’t refuse and enroll them in your big ticket program.

Evaluate Your Marketing

After your event, it is time to evaluate your marketing and assess what went wrong.  Usually, your lack of attendees can be attributed to one or more of the mistakes that I reveal in my free webinar
