Connecting With LinkedIn Groups

Spending Time on LinkedInIt seems that I am spending most of my social media time on LinkedIn these days.

It’s because I am getting the most bang for my social media buck (minutes) at LinkedIn.  I know people swear by Twitter or Facebook, but I have found LinkedIn to be more effective.

And if you are reading this after having connected with me on LinkedIn first, you are living proof.

What makes LinkedIn so valuable to me is that not only do I meet some wonderful people there and make great new connections, but I also learn a lot.  People are very generous in sharing their expertise.

And guess what happens when you share your expertise?  Potential clients look you up and join your email list, because they like your message or what you have to say.

Making LinkedIn work for you as a business building tool or attendee attracting tool is about adding value, and about groups.  Actually about adding value in groups.

My friend Lynn Brown with http://LearnIt2EarnItwithLynn.com teaches some great LinkedIn strategies that I am using.

She has a blog post that talks about the benefits of joining LinkedIn groups in LinkedIn Groups Will Rock Your World. She also has created a video about how to look up LinkedIn groups that will work for you and how to then join them. I am sharing it below.

However, if you are looking to learn more about workshops and seminars and how to plan, promote and profit from them, you will love my new LinkedIn group: Seminar Marketing: Plan, Promote and Profit From Workshops and Seminars.

Less than a week old, it already has some great tips on MUST HAVES and MUST NOT HAVES for your live event. Why don’t you stop by and add your own 2 cents?

  1. It seems as if ever couple of weeks I have to remind myself of the importance of spending time in LinkedIn. I know the value and yet with my limited time I find that I spend it mainly on Facebook between my profile and pages.

Thanks for the reminders and for sharing Lynn’s post.

Happy to remind you, Yvonne! I used to spend much more time on Facebook than on LinkedIn, until I looked at the ROI. It was amazing!

I still spend time on Facebook as well and frankly, I love connecting to my friends all over the world on Facebook. It is just different…

Thanks for the reminder Daphne, because I too have found a “different” level of interaction on LinkedIn than FB or Twitter. I like it! I want to build more time in my schedule to “hang out” in my groups more…

And now that you’ve launched your Seminar Marketing group and I am getting underway with my next live event…I’m sure there are some great nuggets I can pick up to make it even more powerful!

    Thanks for launching the group!

“It’s because I am getting the most bang for my social media buck (minutes) at LinkedIn.”

I’ve noticed huge spikes in the number of visitors to my blog when anyone shares one of my posts on Linkedin.

“…until I looked at the ROI.”
Guess that’s what all this social media is about.

    Useful post Daphne.

I am glad you are seeing the same pattern I do, Keith. Posting a blog post on LinkedIn increases my traffic right away. Better yet, it is traffic that actually turns into leads, because they download my eBook.

      Thanks for stopping by!
