Are You Leaving No Trace Or Blazing A Trail?

black bear GSMNPAre you familiar with the “Leave No Trace” concept?  It is a motto the Boy Scouts live by, where you leave no trace in nature that you have been there.

We spent some time in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park during our vacation, and Leave No Trace is in full force there.  If you leave anything behind, even droppings from your picnic sandwich, you can endanger the wildlife in the park.

The story goes that Park Rangers had to kill a bear after it had lost its fear of humans by eating food left behind by park visitors.  So when we ate our sandwich by the falls after hiking, we made sure to pick up our dropped tomato pieces and left no trace.

In nature, it is essential to leave no trace.  Unfortunately, too many entrepreneurs also leave no trace when they should actually be blazing a trail!

The object for entrepreneurs is the exact opposite of Leave No Trace.  You want to make as much noise and leave as much of an impact on your environment as you can. The more people you can reach the better.

Blaze A Trail With Events

One of the best ways you can impact people is through workshops.  After all, when you share your expertise with your attendees, you affect their lives for the better.  And not just your attendees’ lives…

Even if you only do a two-hour workshop about how to eat the right foods to lose weight, you leave more than just a trace.  Once your attendees apply your instructions they start eating healthier and losing weight.  Their new found awareness can also lead to their families eating healthier and fewer obese kids.

But let’s take it further.  In a two-hour workshop you can only affect so much change.  What if you host an all day workshop and really gave your audience the knowledge and the tools to change their lives or their business.  In our weight loss workshop example, you now have the time to show off some recipes that are easy to make, as well as delicious and healthy at the same time.

Reach more people through workshops

That type of workshop creates a bigger impact and its reach is much bigger than with a shorter workshop.  You have the ability to affect your attendees in a bigger way, because you can share more tools and more knowledge.  The likelihood of your audience taking action and thus changing their lives is bigger.

This is all well and good, but what if you could really blaze a trail with your workshops and seminars?  It is possible to really start making an impact when you turn your workshops into larger events.  Get more attendees and reach more people or turn your events into 2 or 3 day intensives.

And when you offer an opportunity to work with you to implement the strategies and tactics you taught them at your event, you can help your audience create lasting change. And when you help your audience improve their lives or business to the extent that they become success stories and inspire others, you are truly blazing a trail.
