This weekend I accompanied my 13 year old boy scout as a volunteer for the local triathlon. As a former Olympian, I appreciate athletes that compete. No matter the level that they are at, they train hard and give it their all on the field, on the court and in the pool.
I admire triathletes most of all, because it is such a grueling sport and they have to compete in the lake, on the bike and on the road. Most of all, endurance has never been my forte, so I appreciate those who can push their body to work for long stretches.
As I was watching the bikes go by, one thing really struck me. There were some athletes that were competing with bodies that were not exactly athletic. Yet they were out there, early in the morning, swimming almost a full mile, biking 25 miles and after that running another 6.2 miles.
But frankly, that is bull. It is an excuse. They are out there, pushing themselves and I am in here, writing on my computer.
In business it is the same way. Do you see people out there with less experience and fewer skills than you crushing it?
Are they taking meaningful action to take their business forward, while you are doing busy work instead?
I am calling myself out on my bull and I am calling you out as well.
What is YOUR excuse?
