Creating buzz and visibility for your event is a big key to filling your workshops and seminars. After all, if people don’t know about your event, it is hard for them to buy a ticket. There are hundreds of ways to promote your workshop, but the good news is that you don’t have to use them all. Just choose a few that you are comfortable with and really saturate them before you add another method.
Here are 5 places in the social media world to get visibility:

YouTube

youtube_32Creating videos is one of the most natural ways to promote your workshops and seminars. If you can speak to a room full of people, you can speak to a camera. You don’t have to have the best production values, you just have to get your message across.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn GroupsDon’t forget to invite your LinkedIn connections to your event. As with all your marketing, not all your connections are a perfect fit, so don’t invite people who clearly wouldn’t have an interest. For instance, if you are hosting a workshop on weight loss for women over 40, don’t invite men. If you do, you start falling into the spam category and you don’t want to go there!

Vine

Vine is the new app from Twitter. It allows you to create a looping 6 second video to promote your workshops. Then post it to Vine, Twitter and your blog. Check out this Vine promoting a UNICEF event.

 

Facebook

Social Ads On FacebookWe all know about posting on Facebook. Unfortunately, Facebook decides which of your friends and followers actually sees your post. And unless you have amazing engagement on your Facebook page, the amount of people that actually sees your post about your event can be disappointing at best. The solution is to promote your post. You can promote your posts to fans of your page as well as to friends of your fans.

Did you write a great blog post about what you are teaching at your workshop? After sharing it on your blog and your social media outlets, also submit it to the Social Buzz Club for its members to share it with their networks. They can share it on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Digg and Stumbleupon, multiplying your reach and giving you some viral visibility.

  1. Great article! I’m finding more and more events are using utube to promote them.
    Often in the videos speakers all do a quick promo of what they will speak about to entice people to attend.
